There is no doubt that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir can provide marvelous music. And, Romney must have been an adequate LDS missionary because he was promoted to zone leader in Bordeaux in early 1968 and subsequently became assistant to the mission president in Paris, the highest position for a missionary.
Later, he served as ward bishop for Belmont from 1984 to 1986, acting as the ecclesiastical and administrative head of his congregation. From 1986 to 1994 he presided over the Boston Stake, which included more than a dozen congregations in eastern Massachusetts. And he is a sixth-generation member of the LDS religious cult.
However, we don't need a powerful religious leader to replace Obama in 2012. We need a strong conservative with a primary mission of repairing the damage done by Obama in his sole term. Our next president must be against Obamacare [socialized medicine] and against global warming.
Romney is the putative father of socialized medicine in America and waffles on global warming, having promoted green energy while Governor of Massachsetts.
Romney falls short of the mark in his aspirations to the presidency, for the following reasons.
1. You need to understand how the LDS came into existence in the 1800s as the concoction of a treasure digger named Joseph Smith. He was known then as Joe.
2. One treasure Smith claimed to dig up was golden plates on Cumorah Hill, near Palmyra, New York, revealed by an angel named Meroni. The hieroglyphics on the golden plates were translated into English by Smith by placing the plates at the bottom of a white top hat while gazing at them through large spectacles with "seer stones" for lenses. After the translation was completed, Meroni took back the plates.
This angel Meroni, claimed to be the glorified son of a man named Mormon (who had been dead 1,400 years.
The translation contained the fullness of the everlasting Gospel. Joe translated the plates and published the Book of Mormon in 1830. Later that same year, Joe, his wife, his brothers, Hyrum and Samuel established the religious cult which is known today as the "Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints" LDS.
The Book of Mormon contains plagiarism of the King James Bible, at least 25,000 words. This is strange since the plates were supposed to have been in the ground many centuries before the King James Bible was completed in 1611.
A "seer stone" was a device that treasure hunters claimed helped them find buried treasure.
At this point, I see more PT Barnum in the Joseph Smith concoctions than religion. The Plan of Salvation is largely obscured by all the hocus pocus. gel
It's difficult to believe intelligent and educated persons can accept the Barnum-like characteristics of the LDS religious cult. No wonder it takes missionaries to go from door to door and to foreign countries roping in new converts.
Part of their training must be a course in how to keep a straight face while convincing the "gentiles" that Joe's outlandish proclamations from the 1830s constitute a religion and not a side-show act.
3. Romney is in large part the father of the despised Obamacare. The records, gleaned from White House visitor logs reviewed by NBC News, show that senior White House officials had a dozen meetings in 2009 with three health-care advisers and experts who helped shape the health care reform law signed by Romney in 2006, when the Republican presidential candidate was governor of Massachusetts.
One of those meetings, on July 20, 2009, was in the Oval Office and presided over by President Barack Obama, the records show… Romney is "the father of health-care reform," said Gruber. "I think he is the single person most responsible for health care reform in the United States. … I'm not trying to make a political position or a political statement, I honestly feel that way. If Mitt Romney had not stood up for this reform in Massachusetts… I don't think it would have happened nationally.

4. Romney has believed in the global warming hoax. He has consulted with John Holdren, an infamous proponent of global warming and various other off the wall liberal concoctions.
As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney created a fund to invest in green energy, said alternative energy could generate jobs and approved bills allowing cities to build fields of solar panels. Sounds a lot like the Solyndra slush fund.
The danger in the global warming hoax is that it believes green energy and fossil fuels cannot coexist. Green energy projects require massive governmental subsidies to prop them up. At no place in the world has green energy been market driven. The public failure of Solyndra, a solar panel fiasco, is a classic example.
Global warmists claim fossil fuel is antiquated and make fun of Gov. Rick Perry's energy plan because it counts on drilling for gas and oil.
The Global Warmists have their head to far in the sand they don't hear of all the new and massive fossil fuel deposits we have right under our noses.
The next president needs to drill and deregulate. Romney is not equipped for the task in the drilling category.
Drawbridge Position on Global Warming
When Global Warming is mentioned in a Drawbridge Blog, we mean it within the context of the following:
The Earth's temperature is not subject to the activities on the surface of the globe. In other words, humans can do nothing to make Earth cooler or warmer. Global temperatures do fluctuate up and down but such changes are totally within God's hands and mere mortals can do nothing to effect Earth's temperature one way or the other.
The first four words in the Bible are
In The Beginning God.
So what God did in the beginning, He will continue to do according to His good pleasure. God created Earth for the benefit of animal life, plant life, and humans.
He designed humans and animals to breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Conversely, plant life breathes in carbon dioxide and exhales oxygen. This is God's master plan and nothing Al Gore and his kind do can change it one iota. Divine simpatico.
The notion of selling or rationing carbon units is straight out of a con man's "a sucker is born every minute" play book.
Those who traffic in such drivel should be discredited and turned over to the justice system as soon as we get a real Attorney General.
Conservation, recycling, and striving for clean air and water are worthy goals and have no cause and effect relationship with global warming. G. Edwin Lint
Mitt Romney's service as Senator and Olympics CEO is acceptable. His work as Governor of Massachusetts is only marginal when you consider his flirting with socialized medicine and green energy slush funds.
But as a potential president, he makes an excellent LDS missionary and should not rise above that level, in 2012 or ever.
