We all know that Jesus was born 2,000 years ago, but why was He born? He wasn't born to heal all the world's diseases, although He certainly could do that. He wasn't born just to perform all the wonderful miracles which are recorded in scripture. He was born with one primary objective. Jesus was born so that He could die. In God's plan for our salvation, established in the beginning of time, the only solution to the problem of sin would be sacrifice, the shedding of blood. And not human sacrifice, either. God sent His own Son to die for our sins so we won't have to die for our sins. That's what all the hullabaloo at the end of December is really all about. God had just rolled out His plan of Salvation. He had just launched the ultimate solution to sin.
