How did America grow into the world's foremost economic superpower? How did we come to foster innovation and create a standard of living unimaginable to generations before us? How did the United States become a beacon of prosperity for the world? The single answer is found in American free enterprise. As the U.S. Chamber turns 100 years old this April, we are reaffirming our commitment to free enterprise, the greatest economic system ever devised and the driver of America's greatness. As U.S. Chamber President Tom Donohue said in his State of American Business address earlier this month: We passionately believe that it's time to stop apologizing for the one thing in our society that really works-American free enterprise. And it's time for government and our fellow citizens to understand that the only way out of the problems we face is to drive economic growth from one end of the country to the other. Whether it's fighting to roll back the burdensome federal regulations that strangle small businesses or championing a pro-growth agenda to get our economy moving -- the U.S. Chamber is leading the fight for American free enterprise. Unfortunately, free enterprise is under attack from those seeking more government solutions, penalizing American job creators who take risks and work to make America great. It's time to fight back. Working together, we can fight for the economic system responsible for keeping the American Dream alive. We won't apologize. We won't back down. And we hope you'll stand with us today.
